James Shaw Jr., who became a national hero after disarming a gunman in a Tennessee Waffle House, made an appearance on "The Ellen Show" today where he was surprised by his own personal hero, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade.

Shaw, 29, told Ellen that D-Wade was his favorite basketball player, prompting the future Hall of Famer to come out and join Shaw on stage, much to his surprise. During their conversation, Wade told Shaw that he is the typer of person that he wants his kids to look up to.

In addition to the surprise, the three-time NBA Champ also presented Shaw with a $20,000 check, matching the amount Ellen Degeneres previously awarded Shaw courtesy of sponsor Shutterfly.
