Lots of people are making animal conservation donations in Donald Trump's name.
Donald Trump's world was rocked by yet another scandal recently after Stormy Daniels was revealed have supposedly been paid off by Trump's people right before the election process got underway so that details of a sexual encounter between the two wouldn't be made public. However, Daniels knows much more than what 45 is like in the sack - in an interview with In Touch in 2011, she shed some light on something he absolutely hates: sharks.
In the piece, Daniels describes Trump as a man who, while watching Shark Week, painted his dislike of this seafaring creature as so absolute that he wouldn't even make them part of his considerable charity targets. "He is obsessed with sharks. Terrified of sharks," she said. "He was like, 'I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.' He was like riveted. He was like obsessed. It’s so strange, I know."
This hatred was not only lampooned on Twitter, but led to a flood of donations for animal conservation causes, particularly those involving sharks. "We have been receiving donations in Trump’s name since the story was published," Cynthia Wilgren, chief executive officer and co-founder of Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, told Complex. "[It's] a challenge to raise money for a species that most people fear."
There has been no comment from Trump on the rise in the donations for this specific cause, but with a government shutdown and fresh sex scandal on his hands, my guess is that he's plenty busy at the moment.
