"It turns out they ran a battery of tests, and I also tested positive for COVID-19, which blew me away," Hughley said in a video posted to his Twitter account. "I was what they call asymptomatic, I didn't have any symptoms, the class symptoms I didn't have."

Hughley recorded the video soon after being released from Saint Thomas hospital in Nashville. "I want to thank them for taking such good care of me," he says.

Hughley's original stand up set was apart of a Juneteenth virtual fundraiser. Video from the event shows his speech begins to slur as he collapses to the ground soon after.

"He was suffering from exhaustion after all the week’s work and travel, and was kept overnight at the hospital for tests under doctor’s orders. He is awake and feeling better, and wishes to thank everyone for the very kind prayers and thoughts," Hughley's representative told The Hollywood Reporter.

His best-known work is BET's ComicView from 1992-1993, as well as the ABC/UPN sitcom The Hughleys. Hughley also starred in Spike Lee's The Original Kings of Comedy.
