DJ Quik shares "That Getter," the first single from his upcoming album.

On October 14th, L.A. legend DJ Quik will release The Midnight Life, is first album since 2011's The Book Of David. Today, he's shared the first single from the upcoming project. Entitled "That Getter," the track also features David Blake.

An easygoing, slow-paced track that has plenty of Quik's signature L.A. flavor, "That Getter" touches on everything from the DJ / producer's legacy to the imbalance of black students who are expelled or suspended school. The wily-voiced Blake contribute's the song's last verse, taking Kurupt's place as Quik's partner in crime after those two released a joint album in 2009.

Quotable Lyrics:

Not in my hood, but up under my hoods
Be as stupid as you want to, like they taught you you should
Niggas is 18% of population in school
50% suspensions, expulsions, that shit ain't cool
