The wild Brooklyn upstart known as Desiigner just dropped his first-ever project, New English, exclusively on Tidal. Before that, he only had one official song to his name. That song, "Panda," spent two weeks as the No. 1 single in the country, and it earned Desiigner a deal with GOOD Music and a spot on the Freshman list. Tonight, Desiigner was included among a list of names like Young Thug, D'Angelo, and Erykah Badu to perform at the 2016 BET Awards. Of course, he stuck to his main weapon and gave a typically raucous rendition of the song that got him to that stage.
One thing that's gonna serve Desiigner well as he tries to prove his worth in the game is that he never shies away from the big moments. During his debut at the BET Awards, he bounced around like a kangaroo on speed, screamed into the mic (when it wasn't whirling in the air), and dabbed up and down the celebrity-flanked aisles. Tyrese certainly enjoyed it. Future, whose style Desiigner has been accused of biting, is also set to perform tonight, and he was presumably backstage during "Panda." Too bad, as his facial expression could've spawned years worth of memes.
