This Sunday, the New York Yankees will be retiring Derek Jeter's #2 jersey at Yankee Stadium in a special ceremony that will take place prior to their game against the Houston Astros.

Ahead of the momentous occasion, Jeter penned a "Thank You, New York" letter on his Player's Tribune website, and released a video to go along with it as well.

In the letter, Jeter writes,

"Thank you, New York, for asking a lot of me. For challenging me. For giving this kid a place to grow up. I wasn’t born a New Yorker — you asked me to earn it. I wasn’t born a Yankee, but you made me into one."

"Everyone comes to this city with dreams of being No. 1. You showed me that being No. 2 was more than enough."
