Demi shares an encouraging message with her fans.
Actors, singers, and other Hollywood celebrities are constantly held up as examples of beauty standards in society. Sure, they all look great when they're taking pictures on the red carpet, but the average person doesn't always have the time, or the money, to look the way they think they're supposed to.
Demi Lovato doesn't seem to agree with the message that celebrities are better than everyone else, and took to her Instagram story to prove it.
In a series of posts, Demi poses in a tied-up t-shirt and underwear, and points out all of her "flaws" that don't get shown in the photo shoots or on magazine covers.
Demi shows off her touching thighs, her belly fat, her stretch marks, and her cellulite, each time captioned with the inspiring message: "And yet I still love myself."
Demi wanted to show her fans, a large percentage of which are likely young girls, that it's perfectly alright not to have a perfect body. Body image issues affect a lot of young people, but are especially hard for women, which can lead to dangerous eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia in order to become as thin as possible.
Demi finished off the posts with a final word for her fans, "The boomerang smoothed out my legs. The point is, I have cellulite just like the other 93% of women do. What you see on Instagram isn't always what it seems to be. Let's embrace our real selves. #iloveme."
That's very sweet of Demi to share these pictures with her fans, who hopefully can find some encouragement in her words. Check out Demi's Instagram story below.
