In the latest installment of Mass Appeal's Rhythm Roulette series, Mississippi icon David Banner comes through to build a track from the ground up. In the clip, seen below, Banner digs through the records for a sample he fucks with, and proceeds to chop it up in real time. Viewers can get a first hand view of Banner's process, and aspiring beat makers should take note on the effortless way he break down the soulful sample.

“That is what hip hop is supposed to be about. We couldn’t afford a bass player. We couldn’t afford a guitar player. We couldn’t get studio time like that. That’s what sampling was about. Opening up opportunities to people who don’t have them.”

The final product is "Paper," featuring Tricky LT 45. Check out the video of the making-of process and treat yourself to the fruits of Banner's labor. Check out more details about the session on Mass Appeal.
