Just one second into DaBaby's latest Baby On Baby album is all it takes to come to the conclusion that the North Carolina-bred emcee is packing something special.
On project opener, "Taking It Out," the newly-minted Interscope signee gets straight to the point, preceding the beat drop to introduce a cadence and self-possessed aggression that sets him apart from most of his contemporaries. Even when issuing such lines as , "He touch me, he gon' die on the scene/I'ma pay me a lawyer and sit in the county/You ain't built how I'm built, they ain't seen what I seen," DaBaby does so with a certain level of composure.
It's a consistent balance that persists throughout the entirety of Baby On Baby and constructs "Taking It Out" as a well-strategized preface.
