Though remixes can occasionally feel like tired rehashes, DaBaby has flipped the script for his official Black Lives Matter remix of "Rockstar." Unlike many modern-day revisits, DaBaby actually adds a new verse, opening the melodic hit with a reflection on his own experience with police brutality. As fans know, there's plenty of source material to draw from there, as police have been harassing DaBaby for a minute this year, with the rapper having been arrested back in January

One week after previewing his verse for the "Rockstar" remix, DaBaby has come through and delivered the song in full. "Cops wanna pull me over, embarrass me, abusing power," he raps. "You never knew me, thought I was arrogant, As a juvenile, police pulled they guns like they scared of me." Though the rest of the song remains intact, fans should be pleased at this updated variant, as it provides even more DaBaby than the original. Not to mention that the song raises attention for a worthy cause, with references to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests taking place throughout the United States. Check it out for yourself, and sound off -- do you prefer this to the original?

QUOTABLE LYRICS

Oh there they go
Bias and pushing negative narratives, I'm ready though
Cops wanna pull me over, embarrass me
Abusing power, you never knew me, thought I was arrogant
As a juvenile, police pulled they guns like they scared of me
