Curtesy is a rapper out of the DMV area. His sound is indebted to rap's past, an influence it wears proudly. It might be a bit too tied to the 90s if it weren't for the rapper's emotional delivery and subtle experimentation with the production. "Willing To Take" is built off of a ghostly sample that that sounds like its coming from another room, that is until it's brought to the forefront very briefly, just to be buried again. Curtesy's voice is center of his music, so it makes sense that a sample would be relegated to a muffled cry, complimenting the rapper's vulnerable vocal style.
