Consequence has been on a roll. Earlier this week, he released "The Realness" freestyle. The rapper has been working throughout the year, collaborating with some other heavy emcees along the way. Con dropped his second studio album last year. However, with the amount of work he's been getting off, you could tell he's gearing up for his October release of Where Hip Hop Lives mixtape. Today, he comes back with "Imagine" featuring Hodgy, Charles Hamilton and Kam Corvet.
All four artists drop some pretty solid heat on this record. Consequence produced the joint too. The song features a pretty upbeat, funky beat with some sly bass lines and a jazzy drum pattern. He comes in with the first verse, filled with some slick wordplay throughout, as you could expect. The rapper has been known for his lyrical abilities and this track further proves that. However, Hodgy still comes in with some solid wordplay throughout his verse, making sure that you're aware that he's a beast on the microphone. Charles Hamilton also comes through in-depth lyrics on his part. All three rappers catch a body on this record. Kam Corvet's hook fills in the gaps in between. The singer's vocals bring a sunny, uplifting feel to the song. It's a hard record that'll definitely keep you curious as to what Con got in the stash for the rest of his project.
Consequence has been keeping the microphone hot. Over the course of the summer, he dropped some pretty tight freestyles. He also linked up with heavy hitters Papoose and Peedi Crakk for his single "Say My Name". He also dropped a crazy posse track with Chance the Rapper, GLC, Chuck Inglish and Alex Wiley called "Spaceship III" earlier in the year. Consequence is definitely on one this year. Don't sleep.
After a taste of the rap life, I knew I had to have it
I knew that the trap life could maybe end tragic
I knew if I rapped like the greats that reeked havoc
There’d be no more subways for me like Jared
