Another member of G.O.O.D. Music has a solo album in the works. Common has announced he is currently working on his tenth LP and is aiming for a January release.
Chi-town rappers have been a mainstay in the news lately, with the young Chief Keef having publicized tension with veteran Lupe Fiasco, and of course Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music compilation debuting recently. Before any of these talents were making noise, it was Chicago’s own Common who was putting out records. Now, the seasoned lyricists plans to drop his tenth album early in 2013.
While promoting Cruel Summer, Common talked with MTV News and revealed that he has started writing his next LP, and that it will drop in January, via HHDX, “I am writing a new album. It will be coming out in January, and I'm looking forward to that.” Adding that he plans to at least drop tracks in the ew year, “My stuff will come at the top of the year maybe some songs out there on the street level.”
Look for Comm to work with his long time collaborator, producer No I.D., and of course the man behind G.O.O.D. Music, Kanye West, who produced one of Common’s most heralded albums, Be. “I'm going to work with No I.D. and looking to hopefully work with Kanye [West] and that's some of the major people I'll be working with,” Common also will be looking to collaborate with other producers, “whatever other great talents that I feel are going that direction that I want the album to be.”
