Clams Casino will be dropping his first project in quite some time (and his first studio album) tomorrow. Ahead of the release of 32 Levels, Zane Lowe is holding us down with one of his world premieres for what is undoubtedly the most anticipated cut off the album-- a collaboration with internet-grown rappers A$AP Rocky and Lil B. Both artists are responsible for helping Clams Casino find a slice of fame (or is it the other way around?). Rocky and Clams have a long history of collaborations, although it's been a minute since they did one-- instead we had Ferg and Clams collabing on the recent Always Strive And Prosper album.
Before playing the song, Clams shed some light as to how the other-worldly collaboration all came together. "I made the beat at home, that's a Mikky Ekko sample on there, that's his voice in the background, and I went over to Rocky's place in New York and I played him some stuff," the producer says. "he was starting to work on his second album, and I was starting to work on mine, and I played him the beat and I was like this is a new beat, that, you can't have it, but if you wanna have it you can do it on my album."
The record feels like a 2016 version of the sounds that Rocky and Clams first explored on Live.Love.A$AP, with an ethereal vocal sample and other heavenly elements contrasted by harder sounds.
Pre-order 32 Levels on iTunes.
Say man, how it feel to be a made man?
Shit, I be feeling like I'm God, like I made men
Black man, getting money through the made men
Paper chasin, less saber scraping
Get money, fuck a case
Did they ever tell you money has no race?
Still living like a caveman
No gender, hunger don't discriminate
I remember empty plates with nothing on it for the grace
