Chilling Adventures of Sabrina touched down on Netflix last month, and the reboot of the 90's series was a hit. Netflix put a twist on Sabrina, who was once played by Melissa Joan Hart. This time around, Sabrina is played by Kiernan Shipka, and the family-friendly comedic environment is gone. Instead, the young witch is placed in a world of devil worshippers and demons who plan to put Satan in power. The dark reinvention was received warmly by both critics and viewers, and now, Sabrina is set to return for a Christmas special.
Netflix announced the new series on Twitter, teasing fans with the holiday-themed special. Much like the original, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will get a one-off Christmas episode. It will be called “A Midwinter’s Tale," and the episode will hit Netflix on December 14. Fans have noticed that Sabrina's hair is platinum in the promo image, hinting that the story takes place after the first season.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has a very strong tie to witches and the devil, so it will be interesting to see how the series tackles the Christian-oriented holiday. Assuming Sabrina's baptism plays a central role, there may be an epic clash of good and evil.
