Last night, Charlize Theron was one of the many powerful and successful women who had gathered at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills in celebration at Elle's 25th Women in Hollywood event. After posing for pictures, Charlize took a moment to speak to about causes close to her heart, such as the #MeToo movement.

While in conversation with Variety‘s Marc Malkin, Charlize shared  “I feel like for me the most important thing is that [made] pretty impossible to go anywhere and not have people talk about [the #MeToo movement ]”. Proving that she was impassioned about the protection and health of women in all spaces of life, Charlize added “I think we’ve lived in a world where women have been so let down for so many years, in a very unhealthy way, we’ve almost gotten used to it. So to see some accountability for some of the actions that are just deplorable...it feels like we are finally being heard. These are civil rights, this is just something that should have already been and we should have been done with.”

When confronted with the subject of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's accusations against President Trump's supreme court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, Charlize revealed that she felt "extreme sadness" with Trump's actions. Trump famously mocked Blasey Ford at a rally in Mississippi discrediting her allegations. "I can’t imagine if that was his daughter, how he would feel if somebody did that,” Theron said.  “You don’t have to agree with her, but you don’t have to belittle her, you don’t have to do that. For me, it’s worse than high school to see an adult do that," she continued.
