Thursday morning, Spotify released its third annual "25 Under 25" list of influential artists under the age of 25. Spotify's algorithm combines several factors, including monthly streams and the artists' presence on Spotify's charts and most popular playlists.
This year, pop artist Shawn Mendes took the top spot, followed by Ariana Grande and Chance the Rapper. Here are the hip hop artists that appeared in this year's Top 25:

23. Rae Sremmurd
The top five artists on last year's list were Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Sam Smith, Miley Cyrus, and One Direction; hip hop artists on the list included Vince Staples, Silento, DeJ Loaf, and SZA. This year's list is more robust in the hip hop department. Check out the full 2016 playlist below.
