The athlete shows he's a man of the people.
While many recent headlines may seemingly point to the decline of American society, there are always glimmers of hope that cut through the negative narrative. Yesterday, Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson helped one of his fans by extending a selfless act of kindness. A social media user responded to one of Ochocinco's tweets asking his following for the 411. They revealed how their financial troubles may soon render them hopeless. The fan said they were dealing with the possibility of eviction, prompting the former NFL player to ask for the information that would enable him to offer assistance.
"Eviction? Show me the notice," he tweeted back. "I'll take care of it." And that, he did. Shortly after the original message of distress, the fan replied with a screenshot of a newly-padded Paypal account balance. A note of appreciation was attached to the screengrab: "God is our refuge and strength," the recipient quoted from the Bible's Psalms 46, "I owe this man my life."
This offering might simply be a one-off, but Ochocinco appeared to express further solidarity. "Tell your landlord next time WE fall behind on rent to play me in Fifa for the balance." The shameless plug of his gaming venture is welcome.
