Carlos Santana approves of DJ Khaled's remake of "Maria, Maria" alongside Rihanna and Bryson Tiller.
"Wild Thoughts" which is to appear on DJ Khaled's upcoming project titled Grateful is a re-work on Santana and Wyclef Jean's 1999 hit, "Maria Maria." Musicians aren't always too happy to see their music used and re-imagined at times, but Santana definitely approves of the "Major Key" artists take on his classic.
"There is a reason that the infectious groove/theme that Wyclef and I created on 'Maria Maria' still resonates today," Santana told Billboard. "It speaks to the heart. DJ Khaled, Rihanna and Bryson take that vibe and bring it to a new dimension with 'Wild Thoughts,' but the groove and essence of the song is still intact." He adds, "I am honored that DJ Khaled, Rihanna & Bryson felt the intense intentionality of 'Maria Maria' and have shared this summer vibe with the world.”
