There were rumors circulating online recently that Cardi B was going to be featured on a new song with Maroon 5, and it turns out they were true (kinda). On Wednesday, the band tweeted out that their new single “Girls Like You” featuring Cardi B would be dropping at midnight, and alas here it is. However it should be noted that this isn’t an entirely new record. The original version of the record saw life on Maroon 5’s latest album Red Pills Blues, which dropped back in November, but today they’ve added Cardi for the upgraded version.
Leaving the original vocals & production intact, Cardi adds her Bronx flavor to the pop record, rapping about having danced for dollars & being the life of the party, among other things. The song is reportedly going to be the next single off the album, and with Cardi’s addition, I’d expect to hear this all over the radio airwaves in the coming weeks. This has "hit" written all over it in the pop world.
Take a listen to the new single and let us know what you think. New radio hit or nah?
Not too long ago, I was dancing for dollars
No, it's really rude if I let you meet my mama
You don't want a girl like me I'm too crazy
But every other girl you meet its fugazy
I'm sure them other girls were nice enough
But you need someone to spice it up
So who you gonna call? Cardi, Cardi
Come and rev it up like Harley, Harley
