Burger is apologizing for offering Russian women the chance to receive a lifetime supply of Whoppers, as well as 3 million Russian rubles ($47,000 USD) if they become impregnated by a World Cup soccer player.

The fast food giant's Russian division posted an apology online, revealing that they have ended their campaign amid rampant backlash. They have effectively removed all related materials from their promotional cycle during the competition.

"For these girls, it will be possible to get the best football genes, and will lay down the success of the Russian national team on several generations ahead," the old campaign text exclaimed

In a statement posted to the Associated Press, the company admits that they are "sorry about the clearly offensive promotion that the team in Russia launched online," revealing how the offer "does not reflect our brand or our values and we are taking steps to ensure this type of activity does not happen again."

While Russian advertisements typically depict sexist stereotypes, female advocates have become increasingly vocal with the nation's problematic treatment of women in media.
