Bun B is currently shaping up to unleash his latest full-length effort, a project the Texas-bred rapper says is set to be executive produced by southern spitter Big K.R.I.T.
But before the Trill OG gifts us with another gem, he most recently stopped by the Rap Radar podcast with Elliott Wilson and B.Dot Miller in another quality interview to dicuss the forthcoming album and everything that’s led up to it.
A very interesting snippet of information, however, was centered around none other than JAY-Z when the Port Arthur emcee revealed that Hov’s verse on the “Get Throwed” remix cut of 2005’s Trill album was actually a calculated diss.
According to Bun, bars 8 through 16, if you listen close enough, are actually shots being fired towards an unnamed victim.
“If you listen to 'Get Throwed' to Jay’s verse—for some people it’s going to be clearer than others—but there was shots fired in bars 8 to 12, and there were more shots from bars 12 to 16."
Naturally, B.Dot and Wilson were left scratching their heads. “Nas?” Elliot questioned.
“Nah nah nah. This was before that,” Bun B confirms. “This was more internal. You go back and listen to it.”
“Are you saying internal, more Roc-a-fella type?” Elliot Wilson further inquired.
Bun B nodded in agreement, adding, “That’s the only clue I’m going to give you.”
While Bun’s claim that this beef occurred before Nas would lead us to believe that the beef predated Jigga’s storied saga with the Queensbridge rapper, it's important to note that the “Get Throwed” remix came out years after the inception of the drama between the two men.
But, with Nas supposedly out of the equation, our immediate suspicion of anyone “internal” switches to none other than Dame Dash, who co-founded Roc-A-Fella with Jay in 1996,and later set the stage for a rocky friendship and business partnership that eventually led to Roc-A-Fella’s dissolution.
But if we know anything about Shawn Carter, we’ll probably never get any confirmation on whose name was actually etched on the lyrical bullet.
