If LeBron James really is the "King of New York," as he described earlier this season, he needs to prove it by joining the Knicks as a free agent this Summer. Well, that's what the new billboard outside of Madison Square Garden says, anyway.

The Knicks-themed billboard, which has been paid for by @NYCAdsCo, recently went up on 7th Avenue between 31st and 32nd streets, facing the main entrance to MSG. It reads, “King of New York? Prove it,” along with the hashtag, #KingJamesNYC18.

LeBron and the Cavs will see the billboard up close on Monday, April 9, when they make the trip to New York for their penultimate game of the regular season. The two teams will square off again in Cleveland on Wednesday night in the season finale.

This certainly isn't the first time that fans have attempted to lure LeBron to their respective cities via billboard advertisements. Earlier this season, a Sixers fan paid for several billboards just outside the Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland, urging LeBron to "Complete The Process" in Philadelphia. When LeBron and the Cavs headed to Los Angeles, it was more of the same.

Fans in Portland recently got in on the billboard recruiting train as well, asking LeBron to join the Trail Blazers because, "Dame needs a third option."

LeBron has plenty of options when he officially becomes a free agent at the end of this season. But for now, he and the Cavs are focused on making it to the NBA Finals for the fourth straight season.
