Power couple Beyonce and Jay Z are linking their charitable initiatives to offer over $1 million in scholarships to high school students in need of help as they head to university. Students that will be chosen through The Boys and Girls Club in cities that the OTR Tour II is hitting up.
According to the press release, the scholarship "will award one exceptional senior high school student, with financial needs, 100K to put toward their enrollment in a college or university for the academic year 2018-2019. The award will serve as a dedicated university-based fund for each selected student throughout the duration of the student's enrollment."
The eligible cities include Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Arlington, New Orleans, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego, Santa Clara and Seattle.
Bey and Jay were just recently given the keys to Columbia, South Carolina. "Beyoncé and Jay-Z have contributed tremendously to not only popular culture and the entertainment industry but also to humanitarian aid in the United States and around the world,” Mayor Benjamin said. “We’re delighted to proclaim this day in their name and give them yet another reason to come back to our city.”
