Nike's Vice President of Design and Special Projects, Tinker Hatfield gets a lot of credit when it comes to the Nike Mag, and deservedly so. But his partner in crime who helped make the Nike Mag a technologically advanced, functional piece of footwear is Tiffany Beers, Nike's senior innovator.

In celebration of the iconic sneaker, which is currently up for grabs via Nike+, the two masterminds gave a sneak peek behind the scenes, showing how the Nike Mag came to fruition and how important it will be in the fight against Parkinson's Disease.

As Beers reveals in the new "Fiction To Fact" video, the self-lacing technology was actually perfected in the upcoming Nike Hyperadapt 1.0, and then applied to Marty McFly's signature kicks. According to her, the fit system of the Nike Mag was much more challenging than the Hyperadapt 1.0, but they got the job done without having to sacrifice any of the Nike Mag's core pieces.
