It’s been a while since Asher Roth and Nottz teamed up to release The Rawth (FreEp), and now the two have collaborated again for Rawther.
This time, the duo enlisted Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker for the whole EP, and his influence is definitely felt throughout. The whole tape is very rock-influenced, with heavy use of guitar riffs as well as Barker’s vicious drumming.
Nottz and Asher Roth are both very skilled lyricists, despite the latter’s lasting stigma as “that ‘I Love College’ dude,” and that lyricism is on full display throughout the project. There’s only one feature, but it’s an equally raw rhymer in Royce da 5’9”, who delivers an excellent verse on “Temptation.”
It’s a short tape – only six tracks – but Nottz, Asher Roth and Travis Barker pack the tracks with quality music. Check out a trippy video for the title track below.
