A lot of controversy has started to bubble up surrounding the annual MTV "Hottest MCs In The Game" list, as it tends to every year. The list has been slowly unveiled, several rappers have been unhappy with their ranking. Yesterday we heard from Kanye West, and today, another trendsetter in the game, A$AP Rocky, vents his frustration with the list.
A$AP Rocky spoke on his ranking with the LA Leakers, and says he did not like his #8 spot. The A$AP leader says he should have been given the #1 spot, and if not, they shouldn't have put him on the list at all. He also rants about the many trends he says he is responsible for.
"Yeah, I didn't like that," Rocky said of his ranking. When asked where he should be placed, he confidently responded, "#1. I'ma come clean, why not? I'm 24 years old, I've been directing my videos since 22. All of my videos is shittin on any hip-hop video out there, let's be honest. The reason that everybody is wearing gold again is because of your boy. Everybody is wearin' diamonds. I'm the one who made the John Lennon shades with the glasses [popular], everybody wearing it now," he continued, "I'm not tryna toot my own horn. But honestly I brought it back in a dramatic way."
Rocky then started going on about his flow and style which he says everybody is using nowadays. "It's frustrating when I'm #8. Don't put me on it at all." He shot down the #2 and #3 spot, saying, "I just need to be #1."
