Artists React To Possibility Of Lil Wayne's Retirement

Earlier today, the rap world awoke to some potentially devastating news, as everyone got word of Lil Wayne venting his excruciating frustrations on Twitter and suggesting his retirement. "I AM NOW DEFENSELESS and mentally DEFEATED," he wrote at around 4 AM this morning, seemingly in response to his futile attempts to escape his contract with Cash Money Records. He then wrote, "I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I'm done," causing alarm across social media. Obviously, many esteemed rappers reacted to the possibility of saying goodbye to one of the undisputed greats. They praised all that he has done for the hip-hop game and culture, and they offered empathy and words of encouragement regarding his unfortunate predicament with Cash Money. 

Rick Ross responded to a fan requesting that Wayne sign to MMG by writing, "get Birdman on the phone." Chance the Rapper, who included Tunechi on the Coloring Book hit "No Problem," tweeted a message of inspiration to Wayne, writing, "I just wanna remind you that absolutely nothing and no one in this world can defeat you." Other artists who shared their feelings about Wayne's lamentable situation include Missy Elliott, Lupe Fiasco, Flying Lotus, Chevy Woods, and more. 

Without discounting the severity of Wayne's grievances, it's fortunate to see that both Reginae Carter, his 17-year-old daughter, and Mack Maine, the current president of Young Money, have suggested that Weezy isn't going anywhere. Though he's been in the industry for over two decades, Wayne is just 33 years old.
