The South just keeps producing talented hit-makers, and one of the rising artists is Houston native Lil Playy.  At first the name might not seem familiar, but the beats will.  Originally from H-Town, this rapper/producer moved to Atlanta to make a name for himself, and not too long after was discovered by Ludacris, who heard Playy’s single “My Chick Bad” and wanted the beat for himself because he knew it would be a hit.  The track eventually soared up the charts and reached No. 2 on Billboard, and was nominated for a Grammy.

Recognizing his potential and relentless work ethic, none other than Interscope’s mogul, Jimmy Iovine, reached out to the ATL rising talent and signed him.  Not many rappers would give up the spotlight on a record like Lil Playy did, but it has paid huge dividends for his bank account and his career.  A member of Passe Jones Entertainment’s roster, Lil Playy wasted no time and dropped his Tour Bus Muzik mixtape.  He’s worked with other huge names in the industry like Kelly Rowland, and now is working on his next mixtape which is a prelude to his upcoming studio album.

HNHH caught up with Lil Playy in the studio recording music with a talented singer, Ella Page, working on a party record “After Party Part 2: Private Party”.  Lil Playy shouted out to fans to keep a look out for his next mixtape, “I’m coming out with my new [tape] Counterfeit it’s a new free mixtape we gonna be dropping on HotNewHipHop.”

Fans of party records and club bangers will want to cop this tape as Lil Play says, “I’m trying to bring it to ya’ll as soon as possible, it’s gonna be a banger, got a number of singles on there.”

Check out footage of HNHH in the studio with Lil Playy below, and keep an eye out for his Counterfeit mixtape, as this talented rapper, producer, writer and all-around work horse, is poised to blow up.
