Pete Davidson riled up his fans once again for reasons related to his relationship with Ariana Grande. The comedian decided to clarify his gifting of his late father's NYFD badge necklace to Grande after receiving criticism for allegedly giving the same one to his ex-girlfriend, Cazzie David. His firefighting father is said to have been wearing the chain when he passed away during the attacks of 9/11. The necklace bears a lot of sentimental meaning to Davidson.
The Saturday Night Live star recently posted a picture of his fiance wearing the necklace with a caption full of adoration:
"She’s the greatest person I know. I gave it to her because she has my heart and that is the most precious thing I own. My dad would be so happy and love her so much."
Later, someone commented on his picture saying that “it’s so ridiculous that he gave it to his ex and said the same thing.” Davidson responded to the comment with his usual brand of kindness:
“I had a bunch of replicas made. My sister and grandpa also have one. The one that Ari has is the one my dad actually died in and the one he wore his entire career and the one I’ve worn for over 17 years. I’ve actually never taken it off other than for ‘SNL’ or for work. So it means a lot to me. Hope this helps. Please learn to be nicer and not to assume the worst in people.
