In October, we introduced y'all to Awful Records rapper/producer Archibald Slim with his darkly intriguing project He's Drunk! Showing hypnotic rapping skills and an ability to create precise, intoxicating loops, Slim quickly became one of our favorites in his diverse crew. Now, he's partnering up with Tyler Major (a member of the Nobody Really Knows collective, which has significant overlap with Awful) for a new EP. "Meditate" is the first cut from that.
The track's again built on top of a haunting sample, with a bare-bones but tight beat tying things together. Slim gets his Pimp C flow on, while Major sounds more like a scrappy backpacker, which is a welcome addition to the Awful sound.
