According to a new report published by ESPN, New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis has walked away from his longtime agent Thad Foucher.

In order to change agents, players must file mandatory paperwork with the players’ union and wait for a period of 15 days. According to sources, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, the same representing agency of LeBron James, is at the top of shortlist of potential replacements for Foucher.

Currently, Davis has two years and $52 million left in his contract with the Pelicans with a $29 million player option for the 2020-21 season. Last season, rumors circulated around the potential of the Celtics trading for the five-time All-Star.

He finished the year with an impressive average of 28.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks. Leading New Orleans to the second round of the finals for the first time since 2008, Davis was third in league voting for MVP.

With two years left on the clock, Davis decision to go to move forward with another agent makes some sense as teams will scramble to nab him during his period of free agency. Currently, Rich Paul represents Ben Simmons and John Wall among others, and has built a stellar reputation for negotiating great deals for his clients.

Davis, however, has always expressed his desire to stay in the Bis Easy if the organization can build out a winning team. With a roster that lays claim to a lineup full of potential energy, including Julius Randle, Jahlil Okafor, Jrue Holiday and Niko Mirotic, that aspiration could very well actualize.
