Alabama defensive lineman Dakota Ball won't be suiting up for the Crimson Tide in their game against Washington in the Peach Bowl this Saturday because he's still recovering from a gruesome injury he sustained during a hunting trip.

According to Dakota, he blew off one of his fingers with a 12-gauge shotgun in a freak accident while tying some rope around the barrel.

He told AL.com:

"I shot my finger off with a 12-gauge shotgun."

"I was tying a rope around the barrel and around the stock to keep the shotgun from falling out of my lap ... I was tying rope around the barrel and it just went off. I didn't have my hand on the trigger."

"I shot it right at the knuckle and blew it off."

The incident reportedly took place about two weeks ago in Georgia, although Ball recently relived the story during the Peach Bowl Media Day this morning with his left hand taped up in bandages.
