While it has already been reported that the three men involved in the senseless murder of Ahmaud Arbery -- Gregory McMichael, Travis McMichael, and William "Roddie" Bryan Jr (who recorded the murder)-- are presently facing Judge Wallace E. Harrell in a hearing, further details have come to paint an altogether disturbing picture of the shooting's aftermath. A Georgia Bureau of Investigation detective took the stand to provide his testimony, and he fielded a question about a particular quote uttered by Travis McMichael, as heard by Bryan Jr.

Prefacing that the quote came from McMichaels and McMichaels alone, the detective elaborates. "Bryan says that after the shooting took place, before police arrival, Arbery was on the ground. He heard Travis McMichael make the statement "fucking n***er." A somber silence follows as the weight of the violent word sinks in.

Though a final verdict on whether further charges will be pursued has been reached, this latest revelation certainly paints a bleak picture -- one in which Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael, and William Bryan Jr clearly held racial prejudices, with the former openly unafraid to voice the depth of his hatred aloud. A disgusting truth, but one that may play a pivotal role in ensuring that Ahmaud Arbery receives the justice he deserves.
