Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force's "Planet Rock" is an incredibly important and influential work, partially due to its use of the Roland TR-808 drum machine. A documentary on the groundbreaking piece of musical equipment is set for release under the title 808, which will come accompanied with an EP featuring 4 remixes of Bambaataa's seminal "Planet Rock." The first of the mixes has been released on Apple Music today, and comes courtesy of Montreal beatmaker Kaytranada. The producer adds a strong synthetic pulse under the vocals, while leaving many of the original 808 punctuations intact.
The doc will premiere through Apple Music this Friday, December 9th, at which point the EP will also arrive.
