With the help of Kanye West, Pharrell and a few other, Adidas has been repositioning themselves from a pure performance brand into something more culturally significant. Their latest short film “Original Is Never Finished” continues the push to become the coolest thing around.
The spot uses a remixed, group rendition of the Frank Sinatra song “My Way” to set the tone, as the videos shows an eclectic set of images. There are guys in masks made of Adidas sneakers, darkened warehouses and more mood-setting imagery. A number of athletes and artists make their way into the video, including Snoop Dogg, Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Dev Hynes, Stormzy, Brandon Ingram, and Mark Gonzales are just some of the people featured. The Doggystyle reference is particularly dope.
Throughout it all, Adidas Original continues the refrain that they are a brand for people who are different. Do they have you convinced?
