Ab-Soul is currently on a headlining tour with Joey Bada$$ and Chevy Woods (as well as Pro Era and The Underachievers) for the annual Smokers Club Tour. The tour only kicked off this past week, and we had the chance to catch up with Soulo while he was on the road.

The TDE spitter recently caused a little commotion when he announced that he was working on a new project on Twitter, but he also caused some confusion by using the hashtag #blacklippastor, leading people to believe that was the title of his project. He soon clarified it was not the title, so we had to ask him about the mix-up. Although he wasn't prepared to divulge an actual album name just yet, he did say it's coming soon, and that it's just about finished.

When asked about "Black Lip Pastor", Soul seemed to understand how that could have been received as the actual title. "That would be tight though," he said, not discounting the possibility that he'll drop an album with that title one day. "The might could happen, that might COULD happen," he emphasized.

He said of the new effort, "It's just coming soon. We tryna present in a real cool way, everybody getting real creative with how they presenting their music, so we tryna sit down and come up with a cool little idea too."

He added, "It's almost..just about finished. Ali putting the finishing touches on it on the mixing."

We also asked the Soul Brother #2 about his BET cypher, which he said was nothing he specially prepared for the cypher, "It was just a verse I had in the cut," the rapper told us.

The West Coast native spoke to us about the newest member of the Top Dawg family, Isaiah Rashad, who hails from Tennessee but is currently out in L.A. for "TDE boot camp" Ab-Soul says. A TDE remix of Isaiah's "Shot You Down" with ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock dropped the other week.

"He's going through the TDE boot camp at the 'House of Pain' right now. I show him love. The 'House of Pain' is located in Carson, in my hood, that's where we all started. I help him out the same way that we were helped out," Soul said.

Finally, we asked the rapper about his highly anticipated project with JMSN, Unit 6, which we received one leak off of ("You're Gone," below) before the project got indefinitely shelved. Soulo tells us that their management didn't see eye to eye, and although he hopes we will one day get to hear the collaborative effort, it looks like that won't be anytime soon.
