The profitability of Coachella led parent company Goldenvoice added a second weekend in 2012. According to the Desert Sun, Goldenvoice is in discussions with the city of Indio, CA to add a third Coachella weekend in the fall.
In 2013, Goldenvoice signed an agreement with Indio to keep Coachella and Stagecoach, its sister festival, in the city through 2030. The agreement included a clause that allows Goldenvoice to expand from three festivals per year to five. The Desert Sun reports that Indio mayor Glenn Miller "believes that a new event is imminent."
