21 Savage, Metro Boomin' and SZA have all been at the top of the list of the most impactful artists in hip-hop and R&B. Any doubts that people may have had about their A-list status in current music culture will be put to rest starting tomorrow, when all three will be immortalized as life-sized stone sculptures.
All three heavyweights will see their recreated rock-based selves on display at the Brooklyn Museum in New York City starting December 8th, as part of this year's RapCaviar Pantheon. The popular Spotify list, which boasts nearly 8.5 million followers worldwide, is where this tradition comes from, with each artist given a title that relates to how they've impacted the culture with their music. In all, the streaming service has anointed 21 Savage as The Warrior, Metro as The Architect and SZA as The Mold-Breaker.
Echoing the statues of Gods that were created in Ancient Rome, each sculpture also identifies a key physical aspect that can be linked back their respective artistic personas. For example, 21 Savage holds a knife by his side, while Metro Boomin' is depicted as standing over a list of his biggest hit records with a flute in his possession. A visual component, made by Director X, will also be a part of the showcase, with recording industry legend Pharrell narrating the on-screen action. It will undoubtedly be a must-see experience for hip-hop fans the world over, especially those living in the NYC area.
