21 Savage had fans waiting for the entirety of 2018 for his sophomore album. Issa didn't necessarily hit the mark for 21, but the subsequent guest verses he dished out built the anticipation for what he had in store on I Am > I Was. The project didn't disappoint by any means. As opposed to holding down the project on his own as he did on his debut album, he proved that he could hold his own among titans in the game such as J. Cole who appeared on the opening track. After the amount of success the song garnered, it looks like it will serve as the lead single off of the project.

According to HHNM, 21 Savage has chosen the J. Cole-assisted, "A Lot" as the project's lead single. The song will be serviced to radio stations across the country early next week. Hopefully, this means that the two will serve up some visuals for the song.

The choice to use "A Lot" as the lead single comes shortly after it was revealed that 21 Savage replaced J. Cole's part with an additional third verse on the physical copies. It's unsure if this will be fixed in the future or if 21 Savage's third verse will stay on the CD's.

I Am > I Was is Savage's most commercially successful album to date. The rapper's sophomore album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 after moving 130K in the first week. Expect to see more from 21 Savage in 2019.
