Marijuana and music go together like peanut butter & jelly and marijuana. As such, hip hop culture and weed culture can not be extricated from one another.

Although Snoop should not be pigeon-holed to just a weed rapper, his frequent inclusion of marijuana in his raps helped to carve out a new lane in hip hop. Berner is most influential rapper in the weed business. Period. In 2010, Berner helped create and market Girl Scout Cookies, which is one of the most popular strains in the business. Aside from Girl Scout Cookies, Berner is also credited with creating Cherry Kush, Cherry Pie, The Y, Snowman, Sherbet, Girl Scout Cookies, Gelato, Pink Panties, F1, and F1 Durban, amongst others.

Dizzy Wright is spreading world peace with Dizzy OG. The strain won Best Medicinal Hybrid at the SoCal Cannabis Cup in 2016, although it appears to be exclusively available in Southern California.

In 2010, Wiz stormed the rap game and became the biggest rapper since Snoop to bring weed rap to mainstream audiences. Khalifa Kush is just now becoming available to the public, so expect it to become more easily accessible in the near future.

Cypress Hill rapper B Real hosts a YouTube show called “The Smokebox” in which he he invites 40, Snoop, Wiz, and Method Man light up and talk hip-hop. B Real's personal strain Tangie recently finished 3rd place in the Cannabis Cup.

Legendary west coast rapper Kurupt has his own strain called Kurupt’s Moon Rock, which is created via the potent process of submerging Girl Scout Cookies in hash oil and dusting it with Sicdust. In 2016, the Dipset rapper partnered the California company Chroncierge to produce his own weed strain. Chroncierge also produces Freddie Kane OG, and although Cam’s weed has not been named or produced yet, expect it to be potent and popularized soon.

Skizzy Mars is one of the lesser known rappers on this list; however, his commitment to weed culture is unimpeachable. In 2016, Skizzy Mars created his own strain of weed called OG Skiz. Availability is currently limited.

Riff Raff has his own strain of marijuana appropriately named Jody Highroller. Riff Raff handpicked the strain because it was the brightest color of purple available, and the luminous strain is available at Black Rose Collective in California.
