Los Angeles-based Shlohmo, real name Henry Laufer, started making beats like most bedroom producers. Influenced by the infamous LA beat scene, his early music resembled the experimental Low End Theory style.
In the last couple years however, Laufer has found a niche in the electronic music culture by making some of the sexiest remixes around. After reworking the likes of Drake, The Weekend, Aaliyah, Haerts, Burial and more, he's since linked up with R&B stars like Jeremih and Banks to create some forward-thinking, original R&B music that challenges anything else in the scene.

Off 2011's Bad Vibes, this song shows what Shlohmo was about before he dived in to his more recent style of R&B-influenced downtempo trappy beats. This one is definitely more J Dilla than RL Grime, and was smooth enough for Bonobo to include it on his Late Night Tales mix.

Coming from the LA beat scene, it's no wonder Shlohmo shows some of that Gaslamp Killer / Flying Lotus influence in his music. "Hot Boxing The Cockpit" is a looney beat with all sorts of crazy noises. It's been out for years, but is still a super fresh joint.
Drake - Marvin's Room (Shlohmo's thru tha floor remix)
Shlohmo's take on Drake turns "Marvin's Room" down even more than the original. It's dreamier, more ambient and beat-driven, taking a great song to a new, equally awesome place. Can't complain about a free download either!
Shlohmo featuring How To Dress Well - Don't Say No
How To Dress Well has had a good year, owing a portion of that success to an incredible feature on Shlohmo's Laid Out project. "Don't Say No" is a perfect collaboration between a talented R&B crooner and one of the smoothest beat-makers in music today.
Drake & The Weeknd - Crew Love (Shlohmo Remix)
Like his other remixes, Shlohmo is a master at taking tracks where they need to go without altering the original too drastically. Adding some hi-hats, a great melody and slowing the tempo rendered this remix as good as the epic original.
Jeremih - Fuck U All The Time (Shlohmo Remix)
This remix kick-started a working relationship with Jeremih that resulted in an EP called No More, released earlier this year. Sexy vibes are oozing out the speakers with this one, and it's a strong suggestion for your 'sexy time' playlist.
Young Scooter - Colombia (Shlohmo Remix)
After remixing the likes of Drake, Jeremih and the Weeknd, you have to do some gangster sh*t. "Colombia" is the perfect coke-dealing anthem to receive Shlohmo's melodic bass treatment. This one easily trumps the original.
Samo Sound Boy - Your Love (Shlohmo Remix)
Shlohmo's LA peer Samo Sound Boy has had a big year himself, releasing solo tunes and a collaborative album with Jerome LOL as DJ Dodger Stadium. His techy house tune "Your Love" got the half time treatment by our boy here, and it turns out to be a polarizing anthem.

Shlohmo linked up with Jeremih for the sexy No More EP, titled after this tune. What is likely the sexiest club tune of the year, Jeremih's soft croon perfectly compliments Shlohmo's production. This was a free download as well, so definitely take advantage of that.

It seems like the next logical step in Shlohmo's career will be producing for the likes of mega R&B and pop stars. While Banks isn't exactly a mega-star just yet, she's definitely on the uprise, and the way she goes in over this beat makes us believe Shlohmo will score some massive production credits in 2015.
