Lucki Eck$ - 4:16 AM
Lucki's most recent track is a prime example of his lazy flow, smooth beats and controversial topics.
"It's like I gotta be a star, gotta overdose on drugs. I want the world to stop, I want the TMZ reports. Like, 'Lucki found dead in his lovely, ol' mansion. And ya'll directed this, I just move when ya'll say 'action!'"
With this kind of subject matter, it's tough to say if he has star power for the mainstream or if he's destined for a career in the underground. Either way, he's got our ear.
Lucki Eck$ - FOLLADOLLA
Unlike his Chicago peers, Lucki seemingly has no energy on the microphone. It works for him, though, and when he gets laced with a dark and dreamy beat like this one from Plu2o Nash, he's at his best.
Lucki Eck$ featuring Danny Brown - Weightin' On
If someone is going to hype Lucki on a track, it's going to be Danny Brown. As alert as he's every sounded on a track, Lucki keeps up with the Detroit rapper, proving that the midwest is strong in the rap game. Red Bull Sound Selects was dope to hook up this collab.
Lucki Eck$ - Finesse
Lucki Eck$ released his Body High mixtape this past summer, proving that he can hold his own on a full-length project. On "Finesse" he talks about the pits and the peaks of being a teenage drug dealer. As you'll learn, it's never ordinary subject matter with Lucki's lyrics.
Lucki Eck$ - Xan Cage
Like so many rappers before him, Lucki dives in to the 'poppin' pills' tune. The incredible beat, which samples some awesome, worldly instrument, was done by Mulatto Beats, and it's accompanied with trippy visuals by Jimmy regular. This team of outcasts and up-and-comers are destined for greatness.
Lucki Eck$ - Untouchable Lucki
Lucki's style, his slowed flow and minimal production, is perfectly displayed in this eerie song. "Not a rapper, robber nor a f**kin' cop" can touch him as he swigs 40's in this smooth video.
Lucki Eck$ - Count On Me
The tales of drug dealing over ambient music is a new art form. Lucki's unique style and new take on hip-hop is what makes him so awesome to listen to. "Count On Me" is a great reminder that you haven't heard everything out of rap music just yet.
Lucki Eck$ - Ouch Ouch (produced by FKA twigs)
The new generation of artists are weird, and that's just the way they like it. Linking up with the rising FKA Twigs, "Ouch Ouch" is probably too weird for the likes of a 90s hip-hop head, but younger cats are eating it up. It's new, it's weird, it's a little uncomfortable. It's artsy, it makes you think and it's awesome.
Lucki Eck$ - Hidden Place
Lucki goes up in the clouds for "Hidden Place." His infatuation with trippy music videos adds a unique aesthetic to his super-lazy flow, and serves as just another reason he is unlike anyone else in the game right now. It will be truly interesting to see where his hype takes him in 2015.
Lucki Eck$ - No Troubles
A tasteful Bob Marley sample and smart lyrics is evidently a recipe for an essential track. The smooth guitar strokes, minimalistic production and epic bars make this one killer.
"Ain't no dealers out working these type of Rocks./
Act fine, then wrestle off that pack, I'm like The Rock./
Then I go dish a bit to them cool kids, Sir Mikey Rocks./
Counting cash until my fingers look weirder than Megan Fox's./
With a raw cut, stashed in my dodge the law cut./
Passed With in a dark cut, located a few blocks up./
Not getting locked up, like companies, get my stocks up, then hit a few blocks up."
