Female rapper Zakiya is getting attention from radio, video outlets, and fans alike. Hercules, California native Zakiya has a rich history in the Bay, getting her start at the age of 10 after being influenced by Run-DMC's performance on Soul Train. After honing her skills on the mic, Zakiya is finally ready to present her first full-length album to the world. It's only right that 2nd release from her label Authentic Grind Recordings Entitled "Mouthpiece Music," the album features production by DJ Toure of Hieroglyphics, G-Status, Dogmeat, Aristotle, Sparkmark, and Zakiya. The first single on the “Mouthpiece Music” release, “Solid” featuring Lavon West, Boss E, is a solid club banger and is currently receiving airplay from GCRadio.com. The first release “Authentic Grindin The mixtape” featured appearances by herself and Knobody (Hiero), Sonny Black, Kee Beez, Dook, B-line, Sheena Luv, EQ, AtWill, Little Larry. Production on the mixtape was done by Dj Fresh, G-Status, S.O.D.A, Zakiya, and Dogmeat. Zakiya is experiencing a taste of success, having received airplay on Bay Area radio station 106.1 KMEL and Sacramento’s 103.5 KBMB with songs like ‘Scraper’ in 2004 and ‘Can I Rap 2 U’ in 2005. Zakiya's videos “Grind With Me”, featuring Netta B, and "Road 2 Riches" received some on-air love in Alameda County on cable channels 26 and 78. She's preparing to film a video for the lead single "Solid" produced by Sparkmark.
