Few things are more infuriating than YouTube ads. You’re all amped up to watch a video, and then you have to sit through a 30-second advertisement. The worst is when a 30 second ad appears before a video that’s only 15 seconds. However, YouTube has apparently heeded our collective annoyance and are going to be discontinuing 30-second ads starting in 2018.

This is welcome news for pretty much anyone. However, you knew YouTube wasn’t going to get rid of ads completely. Instead, they’ll reportedly be focused on interactive ads as well as much shorter versions of the unskippable video ad. It’s not ideal, but we’ll take a 6 second ad over a 30 second ad any day of the week.

Just one more thing to look forward to in 2018. While we're on the subject, here's our most recent YouTube premiere.
