Lean is by no means a new craze in hip-hop. Since the early days of DJ Screw, promethazine mixed with codeine and Sprite has been the recipe for many southern classics. Though purple drank originated in Houston, it has slurred its way into Atlanta, New Orleans, and just about every other hip-hop metropolis in the country.

Another week, another fresh crop of songs raiding our Top Ten. Let’s get to it. 10) Omarion ft. DeJ Loaf, Trey Songz, Ty Dolla $ign and Rick Ross – Post To Be (Remix) This re-working of Omarion’s hit was smart enough to keep its most famous, meme-spawning line. And like that line, it’s hanging around for another week.

On a recent episode of VladTV, Vlad and Power 105.1 radio host Charlamagne Tha God engaged in a civil but heated debate on the merits of Young Thug's music, with Vlad advocating for Barter VI and Charlamagne refusing to listen to it.

Random Young Thug leaks aren’t all that rare to see, but what happened earlier this week was more than just a minor leak. Apparently there were over 50 Young Thug track & 17 Rich Homie Quan songs that surfaced online this week, and Thugger’s engineer wasn’t happy about it. Taking to Reddit today, Alex Tumay, a.k.a Thugger’s engineer, had the following statement to make:

In case you missed it, Young Thug is getting married. The rapper is locking things down with Jerrika Karlae, who he met at Gucci Mane's studio, an encounter the couple describe as "love at first sight". Thugger and Jerrika spoke with DJ Vlad recently, dishing on how their relationship came together, which includes Thugger putting the moves on his future wife while she was still presumably dating an NBA player.

Boosie Badazz' comeback album, Touchdown To Cause Hell, is due out in two weeks, but the Batone Rouge rapper is still making changes to the tracklist. As impressive as the features looked a couple weeks back when the tracklist originally made the rounds, Boosie has now reshaped things and added a couple more big guest spots.

While we heard that The Game and Young Thug had put their beef to rest yesterday, most of the news actually came from a third party. Global Gangsters' JoJo Capone played mediator in the official squashing, and supplied most of the information on the negotiations. Meanwhile, Game name-checked Capone, seemingly confirming the end of the feud, but Thugger was strangely silent.

With every great rap beef, a mediator is generally needed to cool things down. Usually, T.I. is the man for the job, but either he wasn't available, or there's a new peacemaker in the rap business -- by the name of JoJo Capone. Capone, who is a member of Global Gangsters (and appears to be affiliated with Rich Gang), was able to get both Game and Young Thug on the phone, and apparently defused the heated situation. He's now done an interview with Forbez DVD detailing how exactly he convinced the two rappers to step down from the feud.

Today, The Game became the first major rapper to chime in on the controversy between Lil Wayne and Young Thug. He had to choose Blood over Blood, and, unsurprisingly, chose Carter over Barter, and warned Thugga not to step foot anywhere in the Golden State.

Earlier today, we got a couple of clips of The Game sending shots Young Thug's way during a show in New Orleans. Ever the troll, Thugger opts to respond to anger with glee (as he did when Lil Wayne urged people not to buy Barter 6). Read his response below, and watch the Instagram video below that.

Thus far, we haven't seen too many other rappers jumping in the ring to defend one side or the other in the Young Thug/Lil Wayne beef, but leave it to The Game to be one of the first. At a recent concert, he had some harsh words for Thugger, all of which basically amounted to a dare to come to L.A. and face the same fate as 40 Glocc.

"Barter 6" Producer Wheezy Wants To Work With Lil Wayne

One of the biggest surprises of Young Thug's Barter 6 was the appearance of a new producer: Wheezy, who produced twice as many tracks on the album (eight) as Thugga's longtime producer London on da Track. Yes, it's almost too ridiculous that a guy named Wheezy produced most of a project whose name, at least to some degree, mocks Lil Wayne.

While Yelawolf managed a big debut this week, topping his previous album peak of 27 by hitting number 3 on the Billboard 200, rap lost a fair bit of ground. While Wale started off strong with a number one debut, he's fallen 10 or more spots every subsequent week, coming in this cycle at 31. Young Thug is also having a pretty rough time, failing to make the top 20 last week, and now falling to 44. Many of the other big albums stayed put for the most part, with Drake being the biggest gainer on account of the physical release of his "Mixtape".

On Monday night, a Baltimore protest that followed the funeral of Freddie Gray, the umpteenth black male killed by police in recent memory, attracted a lot of attention nationwide. Many news organizations have used derogatory words condemning the actions of those Baltimoreans as a "riot," but as protests in New York showed last night, many are on the side of those enraged by Gray's murder.

In the midst of dropping his mixtape-album Barter 6, Young Thug had another big life event, an engagement. Lil Wayne and Young Thug had didn't do too well performing on each other's home turf last night. While Wayne's bus was hit with gunfire in Atlanta, Thugger was consistently heckled throughout a performance in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Nothing about the Wayne incident indicates it had anything to do with the minor rivalry between the two rappers, but Thug's hecklers were definitely motivated by Wayne's frustration.

This week we saw debuts from both Tyler, The Creator, and Young Thug. Neither artist is known to play on mainstream radio (though Thug gets a fair share of rap radio play), but each has a pretty supportive fanbase. Tyler managed to crack the top five, despite the experimental leanings of Cherry Bomb, while Thug remained locked out of the top 20, which can be partially attributed to his decision to drop the album on a Friday instead of a Tuesday.Check out this week's rap rankings below.

Young Thug Goes To The Zoo: The Best Animal Metaphors On "Barter 6"

Young Thug's Barter 6 won't sit well with the RapGenius generation. Looking for deeper meaning behind each one of his multisyllabic yelps is missing the point. Thugger is mostly style over substance, and sometimes that style lies in complete lack of substance. Over the course of the 13-track mixtape, you'll notice Thug references just about every species in the animal kingdom. He hasn't done all his research on the (normal) behavior of each creature, but we can't help but marvel at Young Thug's imagination.
