Coming off the release of last year's Trial By Fire, Yelawolf has officially announced his departure from Shady Records. Catfish Billy broke the news during a recent show in Colorado, as he performed one of his biggest Love Story hits.

"Trunk Muzik 3 is my last album on Shady Records," says Yela, as the "Best Friend" instrumental swells in the background. "Five fuckin' albums on Shady Records. I feel blessed for that. Make some noise for Marshall Mathers!" He proceeds to hold it down for his previous label, delivering an Em-free rendition of their biggest collaboration.

It's always sad when an artist's label tenure comes to an end, and one has to wonder what prompted the decision. To be fair, Yelawolf seemed increasingly focused on doing his own thing, and his country influences seemed to permeate thicker with each passing project. Perhaps creative differences played a role, perhaps not; either way, the split appears to be amicable.

Shout out to Yelawolf, and here's hoping he finds success and happiness in whatever endeavours he pursues.
