Directed by Figvrati Films, "808 The Movie" tells the story of our young protagonist 28-year old cook named Teezy who endeavors to claim the ranks and make it as a hip-hop producer in Atlanta. The film is a savory blend of reality and fiction, dramatizing Teezy's rise to stardom with scripted arguments with his family and friends and featuring prominent appearances from Zaytoven, Yung Joc, VABP (Lex Luger's crew), and more.
Fast forward to 20:43 and 33:40 for some particularly fuego ATL beats.
All in all, interesting concept, not quite as good as the Adult Swim animated special "Freaknik: The Musical," but what is? Bottomline hip-hop could definitely use more of this quasi-documentary style.
