Kevin Gates, Vic Mensa, August Alsina, Isaiah Rashad & Chance The Rapper's XXL Freshmen Cypher
Kevin Gates Feat. Vic Mensa, August Alsina, Isaiah Rashad & Chance The Rapper
XXL has finished the roll out of individual cyphers for each rapper on this year's XXL Freshmen list, and with that we get the first group cypher. The first cypher has Kevin Gates, Vic Mensa, August Alsina, Isaiah Rashad and Chance The Rapper. Gates kicks things off with a dope verse, and August Alsina provides a nice r'n'b break not once, but twice, making it act more like a hook on a record rather than your typical cypher. We could definitely use the MP3 for this. Who had the best bars in the group? Stay tuned for more group cyphers from the remaining freshmen.

Vic Mensa Debuts "No Chill" Feat. Skrillex And "3 AM" In L.A.
Vic Mensa debuted a pair of new tracks during his performance at Echoplex in L.A. Thursday night. The first was "No Chill," which incorporates Allen Iverson's "practice" speech into its hook. Skrillex apparently handled the production and goddamn if the man's 808 game isn't on point. The song's enormous sound is immediately apparent even through this fan's grainy smartphone footage. "No Chill" song has all the trappings of a single, and based on this video it would be a big surprise if it doesn't end up on Traffic.

Vic Mensa & Skrillex "No Chill" Video
Vic Mensa & Skrillex
Vic Mensa and Skrillex premiered their new music video for the banger "No Chill" on Apple Music early this morning. The visual, which was shot by Colin Tilley, gives us a look into the "under world of Tokyo," as narrated by a young Japanese girl. Vic and Skrillex take us to several iconic spots around Tokyo, including Rockaholic Music Bar, 354 Club, Shibuya Street, Robot Restaurant, Alcatraz E.R., and more. Everything is filled with vibrant colors and the result is a chaotic feel, led by Vic's own wildin'. Watch above.

Vic Mensa is definitely coming up in the world, in part thanks to a major Kanye West co-sign (that includes a verse from Ye on his hard-hitting single "U Mad"). While Vic was in New York, he did the press rounds which included a visit to Sway In The Morning.
Charles Hamilton & Vic Mensa Have An Impromptu Cypher
Charles Hamilton & Vic Mensa
Charles Hamilton and Vic Mensa are about as different from one another as underground-minded rappers can be. After starting in a very indie mindset, Mensa has pretty much shed that affiliation altogether, especially after signing to Roc Nation, and Hamilton (despite a new record deal himself) became famous for how averse he was to mainstream contact. Today though, we get to see them brush shoulders in an impromptu cypher.

The clip finds Asher taking to the streets, offering passers by a "message" from his mysterious box. Many are hesitant at first, but eventually people start to give into their curiosity, and seem to be genuinely moved by what they see. You'll have to watch until the end to find out what the message is.
Vic Mensa "Fire In The Booth" Freestyle Video
Vic Mensa has been experimenting with more electronic-leaning sounds as of late, but he can still spit with the best of them when it comes down to it. Sporting some new (Future-inspired?) blond locks, the Chi-town rapper threw down a 10+ minute freestyle for BBC-- much of which seemed to be authentically off the dome.
