BrandUn DeShay- Had Em All
BrandUn DeShay’s first record posted to HNHH came earlier this week with “Had Em All.” While his production has definitely appeared on the site before, we’d yet to formally introduce BrandUn as a rapper in his own right. He definitely proves he’s just that with the banging and slightly experimental “Had Em All”, also containg his own production. This is just the beginning for BrandUn, but we’re already liking the direction.
OB OBrien- Hazelton Trump
OVO affiliate and Drake BFF OB Obrien had a busy week, releasing two records, one of which garnered a ton of traction thanks to a Drizzy verse. The second one though, was slightly more slept on, simply because of the lack of Drake. Nonetheless “Hazelton Trump” was a nice effort, with a catchy hook that’ll be stuck in your head for a minute. OB Obrien has only released three tracks at this point, so it’s hard to have a fully-formed opinion on the rapper just yet, but we’re definitely interested.
GoldLink- Sober Thoughts (Prod. By Kaytranada)
The GoldLink and Kaytranada connection was only a matter of time. With Kaytranada’s penchant to create slightly dance-oriented beats, and GoldLink’s penchant for rapping over slightly electronic production, the two working together seems like an obvious move. The result is a groovy record “Sober Thoughts” which has the newcomer’s signature sing-song flow over jittery production.
Ugly Frank- 90
With weekends generally be slower for content on HNHH, we took the opportunity last weekend to introduce you to a new face in the rap game, Ugly Frank, and his crew ILLFIGHTYOU with his Bobby Hill EP. Hailing from Tacoma, you may not be sure what to expect sound-wise from Frank. On this particular record there is a distinct West Coast feel thanks to a G-Funk-influenced beat (there’s a nod to the era in the song’s title as well as the lyrics). However, Bobby Hill is not strictly G -funk, there’s a definite mash up of sounds and influences.
HNHH's "Underrated Audio" puts you on not-too-mainstream music you might have missed from the past week.
Underrated Audio aims to provide you with some dope looks from the last seven days, that flew under most peoples' radars. While they may have received front-page placement on HNHH, they didn't get as many views as they deserve, so we shine a little more light on them right here.
This past week we introduced two new rappers to the site, both of whom make another appearance on this list. In addition to the two new-new MCs, there are cuts from the OVO signee OB OBrien as well as GoldLink who continues to keep a low-profile in all regards.
